Audition results will be emailed on Sunday, August 11th!
9:00am – 10:30am: Grades 2-3 Competition Line Audition
11:00am – 12:45pm: Grades 4-8 Competition Line Audition
1:00pm – 2:00pm: Grades 6-7-8 Hip Hop Crews Audition
9:00am – 10:45am: Grades 9-12 Competition Line Audition
11:00am – 12:00pm: Grades 9-12 Hip Hop Crews Audition
Dancers placed on Hip Hop Crews will be required to attend a two-day intensive August 19-20, cost: $50
9:00am-10:30am: Extreme Crew and Unreal Crew
10:30am-12:00pm: Supreme Crew
12:15pm-1:45pm: Full Force Crew
We offer two additional competition teams for Fall 2024. There are no auditions for either team. Summer sessions will help with placement for dancers in the fall. 4SDC will assess each dancer’s readiness for these teams within the first month of classes.
Mini Stars: Our competive team for preschool dancers with one year of dance experience. The Mini Stars do not compete in all competitions.
Rising Stars: Our competive team for dancers in kindergarten and 1st grade.

We try to make the audition process professional and at the same time fun and relaxed. We realize that many dancers become very anxious and nervous. We run auditions similar to how a class is taught. Your dancer will warm up and do some progressions across the floor. Then they will perform a short choreographed routine they learned in the previous week of summer classes and audition in a small group in front of the judges. They may be asked to show flexibility and additional skills.
We always encourage a dancer to audition. The process is a great experience and even if your dancer should not be accepted into one of our competition teams this year, it never hurts to get their feet wet. If they want a future in dance, the audition process is inevitable.
Many dancers and parents get caught up in “moving up” at our studio. We want to be clear that just because your dancer does not move up, that is not a bad thing! Groups tend to have more success when they have danced together and have a good chemistry.
We take the selection process VERY seriously, which is why we decided to have a “New Line Intensive” for our older groups. This 3-day intensive helps us solidify any uncertainties we may have about your dancer’s placement. 4th Street Dance Centre stands firm on the placement of your dancer. There will be absolutely NO re-auditions and/or reevaluations. We would be more than happy to set up a meeting to discuss our decision if need be, but we will not reconsider our decision upon the request of the parent. In the years of owning this business we have learned there is always an extreme exception or circumstance that may arise. In which case, we will privately discuss the matter with the parent and dancer.
Please contact the Studio in advance so that we can set up an audition for you prior to the scheduled auditions. This is only reserved for those who will be on vacation. There is no advantage/disadvantage either way, judging will remain the same in the audition process/selection.
*If you are a new dancer to 4th Street Dance Centre and missed the auditions, there will be a $52 cost to set up a private time to audition. Please email or call the studio if you missed the auditions and are interested in trying out for our competition teams.

Performance opportunities and competitive experiences are great ways for children to learn valuable qualities! At 4th Street Dance Centre, we promote competition as a positive learning experience that is not based solely on winning top awards; instead, we promote children to do the best they can as an individual and to use their talents to the best of their abilities. We want every child to be proud of who they are!
With the experience, children learn how to compete respectfully and gracefully, always encouraging other dancers from our studio and from other studios. Children learn the importance of practicing, discipline, and time management; working hard for what they desire. Not only will these skills and lessons apply in dance, but they will also apply in the future academic, professional, and personal endeavors. Children learn constructive criticism in a positive environment, while developing courage and confidence.
4th Street Dance Centre currently offers the competitive dance company for dancers ages 4 & up who want to learn about the dance world on a heightened level. Our competition teams are based on ability levels and age groups. Dancers are required to audition for the competition teams and are placed in the proper company based on their age and ability.

The Stars are our premier competitive dance line. They are in grades 10-11-12 and typically have been dancing for ten or more years. The Stars are the studios dance mentors and demonstrate dedication and the love for dance. Carol Anderson is the Master instructor for the Stars, assisted by Olivia Conlin and Taylor Runkel. Contemporary hip hop, locking, poppin, and breakin. This upbeat class combines basic hip-hop and jazz technique and choreography with no suggestive lyrics/movements. In this fast-paced and fun class students will use hip-hop and jazz to develop their coordination, rhythm, flexibility and self-expression. Classes start off with a basic warm-up. Then the instructor breaks the class down with a hip-hop combination. From beginner to advanced levels, Ellie & Olivia bring the energy of hip hop to the studio for a 45 minute rockin’ session! The Dazzling Stars are in grades 4-5. The group meets twice weekly for lessons in tap, jazz, ballet, and lyrical. Optional classes are available for dancers wanting additional training and performance opportunities. The Junior Performing Line dancers are in grades 6-7. The Junior Performing Line meets twice weekly for tap, jazz, ballet, and lyrical. The Teen Performing Line dancers are in grades 9-12. The Teen Performing line meets twice weekly with optional classes for more training and performing for dancers wanting more.
